1. Choose the correct answer
Is there a time expression in the sentence? Look at that first.
I ______ my homework. Can I go out now?
Answer: have finished
Finishing the homework matters now — it's the reason you can go out.
They ______ to Paris last summer.
Answer: went
last summer is a finished time — we don't use it with the Present Perfect.
______ sushi?
Answer: Have you ever eaten
ever means "at any time in your life" — there is no specific time.
We ______ in this city since 2019.
Answer: have lived
since = from that year until now; it is still going on.
He ______ his keys yesterday, but he found them this morning.
Answer: lost
yesterday is there, and the situation is over — he found the keys.
2. Fill in the gap
Put the verb in brackets into the correct tense. You can use short forms.

Answer: haven't seen
yet goes with the Present Perfect.

Answer: moved
ago shows a finished time → Past Simple.

Answer: Have you finished
The meeting starts soon — having the report finished matters now.

Answer: has worked (or has been working)
for six months — he started six months ago and he still works there.
